Being a hero may not be what it’s cracked up to be. At least that’s the lesson learned in the 2010 smash-hit Kick-Ass based on the 2008 comic of the same name. Kick-Ass follows Dave Lizewski (Aaron Taylor Johnson), a normal New York teenager, as he tries his hand at vigilantism, with some discouraging results. His journey puts him in the path of other heroes (Nicholas Cage & Chloe Grace Moretz), and villains (Mark Strong & Christopher Mintz-Plasse), but things definitely don’t go the way he planned. Directed by Matthew Vaughn with the comic written by Mark Millar, Kick-Ass was a tour de force when it hit theaters and bookshelves…but does it hold up? Its our FINAL STOP on the road to the highly anticipated Venom film due out October 5th! To prepare for the movie, the guys at CBC decided to look at some of the source material used for the production, specifically Venom's first story arc Venom: Lethal Protector. Considered required reading when you think of the character, Lethal Protector follows Eddie Brock as he ditches the NYC Skyline for San Francisco, hoping to become a hero himself. Instead he is met with a slew of bad guys, shifty businessmen and the Life Foundation, a group of rich people arming themselves for the apocalypse. Its one wild ride but shows how great the symbiotic relationship between Brock and Venom truly is!
